Adolescent Therapy

As a parent or a guardian of a child, it is not easy to always know how to help your child. Often there are feelings of frustration, guilt, shame, and helplessness when we can see our children are suffering or struggling. All of those feelings, while uncomfortable, are normal, especially when we find ourselves unable to help them cope.

What to Expect During Adolescent Therapy?

Adolescent Therapy is for teens ranging from ages 13-18 years of age. Adolescent Therapy can be difficult as most teens are there against their will, by the influence of their parents or guardian, and are more resistant to the therapeutic process than adults are. Teens often have mistrust and difficulty building relationships with adults. Through time a healthy therapeutic relationship that is based on understanding and trust can be built between the adolescent and their therapist.

Therapy can be effective for adolescents who are experiencing or have experienced:

  • Anger Problems
  • Disordered Eating
  • Addiction
  • Self-Harm
  • Suicide Ideation
  • Grief
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Concerns Sexuality
  • Concerns with Gender Identity
  • Concerns with overall identity
  • Divorce
  • Family Stress
  • Abuse
  • Death
  • Participate in risky behaviors

The goal of Adolescent Therapy is to bring healing to the adolescent, but to the entire family as well.
